In the moment before the dawn, I felt my breath catch. I caught a vision of myself glowing. Glowing brighter then anyone around me, bringing light to the world. But the wind traced the scars on my back with its cold fingers as if I wore nothing but my bare skin.
Remembering of what I had been, and what I could never be, I sank into the sky as the sun rose. I hid among the multitudes of my brethren, as I had for thousands of years. A starborn, lost to the darkness in the light of the sun.
